Winner - Christinah Ivanoff!

Saturday March 28th Project “We Remember” conducted our first Charity Texas Hold’em Poker Tournament at Ft. McDowell Casino.  None of these events are ever possible without the support and commitment of many volunteers.  For our first tournament we had a respectable turnout and one enormous amount of fun.  The staff at the Casino Poker Room went well beyond the normal to insure that everyone was treated to a great afternoon.

I would like to express my personal Thanks to George from Ft. McDowell Casino who ran the tournament and helped us fill some empty seats with Ft. McDowell Casino patrons.  The sponsor of the tournament was Core Construction; they have been supporting our mission since the beginning of the year with financial support, gifts to some of our Veterans, help with the house in Buckeye, and were the Sponsor of the Tournament.  Also, the Radisson Hotel and Convention centers Mark Ahles and Michele provided great support for our pre-tournament meeting.  T.J. Marco from the Signery who provide our Banners for the event and let us borrow two of the most moving Banners that list the names of those who have been Killed In Action in Afghanistan and Iraq.  If you take the time to look at the photo gallery you will see several pictures of these banners.  Everyone who walked into the meeting room stopped by the two banners and in silence paid their respect and walked away in awe of the number of names of those who have given the ultimate sacrifice for their Country.  Last, but certainly not least, our volunteers who provided many volunteer hours to make sure the event was successful   Thank you Kim and everyone else.

We are planning another Texas Hold’em Poker Tournament for late June or early July.  I will inform you of the date of the event in the next week so you can begin to plan to attend a fun event, maybe win some money, and help us to help our Veterans and their Families.
