Project “Education” is one of the original goals of MFF. One dream of many, of a loving parent, is to make sure that their child receives the best education possible. When the dream of a college education for their child is dimmed by the loss of a parent while serving in a combat situation or training for a combat mission, then that dream of higher education for the child becomes more problematic than before. The surviving parent is now concerned about creating the best one parent family possible, providing for the children and themselves without the emotional, physical, or financial support of their partner. Daily requirements take the place of the dreams of tomorrow. Life has changed and the need to adapt and to adapt quickly tends to be so pressing that thoughts are of surviving today and let tomorrow take care of tomorrow.
Project “Education” is a program that provides College grants for children of those who have been killed in action or training for a combat mission. Through the outreach of Special Operations Warriors Foundation and other programs such as Wounded Warriors Foundation, MFF shares a portion of our donations with these organizations to assist them in providing college grants and educational aid to the children of our fallen soldiers. Additionally, Project “Education” makes funds available to a surviving spouse to assist in their ability to return to school or obtain additional training that will provide them the opportunity to earn more to support their family.
How Project “Education” works:
Project “Education” is designed to assist the surviving children of our soldiers who are Killed in Action or training for a combat mission. Military Families Foundation will raise the understanding of the need of this project through an extensive public relations program across the U.S. and by working with individuals, business, and education facilities to assist in providing “grants” and “scholarships” to those who have lost a parent in combat.
Military Families Foundation will work with existing organizations such as “Special Operations Warrior Foundation” and other non-profit organizations that have educational grants and scholarships as their mission by raising donations through various “We Remember” activities and distribute the proceeds identified as use for Project “Education” to these organizations. This manner of support will minimize the duplication of effort and should be the most cost effective method to support “Education” for the children of our Fallen Heroes.
A secondary facet of Project “Education” is to assist the surviving spouse with furthering their education in an effort to earn more money to support their family. Project “Education” will empower a committee to review the needs of applicants and will work directly with educational facilities and trade organization to provide free tuition or deeply discounted tuition for the applicant.
